EL VERANO DEL AMOR

El blog de hoy lo quiero dedicar al mayor festival de musica de toda la historia: Woodstock.

Este festival fue celebrado los dias 15, 16 y 17 de agosto de 1969, en una granja Bethel (Nueva York).

Su nombre proviene del lugar original donde se tenia pensado celebrar el festival, el pueblo de Woodstock, en Ulster County. La oposición local estuvo a punto de acabar con el festival, pero Sam Yasgur convenció a su padre de que permitiera a los organizadores celebrarlo en uno de los terrenos de la familia.

En principio el festival estaba programado para unas 50.000 personas, pero finalmente acudieron mas de 400.000.

Esto se debe a que inicialmente estaba pensado cobrar entrada, pero la falta de tiempo obligo a los organizadores a elegir entre construir el escenario o vallar el recinto. Por supuesto decidieron escoger construir el recinto, y debido a que era imposible controlar el flujo de personas en una zona tan extensa sin vallar, decidieron no cobrar entrada.

En el festival hubo tres muertos: uno por sobredosis de heroína, otro como consecuencia de una rotura de apéndice y el último por un accidente con un tractor. Tambien hubo dos nacimientos durante la celebración del festival.

Este festival, junto con el de Monterey, fue y sigue siendo el icono de la movida hippie de los años 60 y 70. Como en todos los festivales y concentraciones hippies, la gente estaba a favor del amor y la paz, todo ello mezclado por supuesto con diversos tipos de drogas. En este caso concretamente se pueden apreciar distintas canciones en protesta de la guerra de Vietnam.

Joe Cocker fue el primer concierto del dia despues de la noche maratoniana, el abrió el inció del programa del día a las dos de la tarde.

Jimi Hendrix, él insistio ser el que tocara en último lugar, se programo su parte para la medianoche, pero por retrasos en el festival no toco hasta las 9 de la mañana del lunes, se dice que le llegaron a ver 500000 personas, aunque empezo con un publico de 80000. El recital duró dos horas, siendo el concierto mas largo de su historia, el tocó 18 canciones concluyendo con Hey Joe:
